Pastors and PPBA Friends,
In light of the recent disasters in Texas and Oklahoma (West, Millsap and Granbury, Shawnee and Moore, San Antonio, Etc.) your missions team and association continues to offer trainings and opportunities for volunteers to be actively engaged in disaster relief ministry.
PPBA has sponsored three such trainings in this last year. As of to date, about 30 volunteers (men and women) from Palo Pinto Association churches have become TBM "Yellow Caps". This means they have taken the orientation class, had a background check and are ready for service AROUND THE WORLD! through Texas Baptist Men.
About this time last year, the Missions Team initiated this effort for the association and at the same time began to establish the Disaster Relief Team of Palo Pinto County, Inc., a separate and distinct non-profit organization dedicated to "coordinating, resourcing, and responding in times of crisis/disaster".
Cindy Maness, of Rock Creek Road Baptist Church, Mineral Wells, is our association's disaster relief coordinator. She also serves as president of the DRT of Palo Pinto County, Inc. (which, by the way, was just formally recognized by County Judge David Nicklas and the Commissioners Court as a liaison for the county and will work closely with the County Fire Marshall and Emergency Management Coordinator, Buddy Harwell).
